I hail from a long warrior lineage, with Stanleys having served in the U.S. Army every generation since the Revolutionary War. This essay explains how Mindfulness-based Mind Fitness Training (MMFT)® is an outgrowth from my own healing journey after intergenerational trauma and chronic stress during my active-duty military service. It explores why my work teaching mindfulness in military settings has been controversial and responds to some of the arguments raised by others.
